Chris Millis:

Chris Millis is a novelist, screenwriter, producer, and cartoonist. His debut novel Small Apartments was the Grand Winner of the 23rd Annual 3-Day Novel Writing Contest and was published by Anvil Press in 2001. Millis has since adapted and executive produced his prizewinning novel into a new feature film comedy, directed by Jonas Akerlund, that stars Billy Crystal, Matt Lucas, Johnny Knoxville, James Caan, Rebel Wilson and many more.

“Small
Apartments” is distributed worldwide by Sony Pictures.
The film’s star Matt Lucas (“Little Britain,” “Bridesmaids”) calls “Small Apartments,” “dark and warm at the same time, which is quite rare. It’s a murder mystery and I think in some ways it’s a bit of a love story.”

“Small Apartments,” an official selection of the 2012 SXSW Film Festival in Austin, Texas, is the story of Franklin Franklin, a lonely soul in Los Angeles who has killed his landlord and must dispose of the body while avoiding the prying eyes of his odd neighbors. “People take three years to write something this well thought out,” says co-star, Billy Crystal. “The reason for me to do the movie was the story and the character.”

“I’m sure it’s going to become a cult movie,” adds co-star, Peter Stormare. “It’s just nice to be involved in something that is a little bit different than the Big Studio paint-by-numbers. These are the movies you want to do that gives you soul.”

Millis, who the Hollywood Reporter calls “singularly weird,” will publish his second novel God and California this spring. He lives in upstate New York and Los Angeles.

Eileen Robinson:

In Fall 2011, Eileen began the new children’s publishing house Move Books (move- books.com) to get more boys reading! Launching with the first title in the Fall of 2012, there was much excitement, But long before this would happen, Eileen spent years publishing first-time authors, fiction and nonfiction, at Scholastic and Harcourt. Later she began consulting, critiquing manuscripts, giving workshops in hopes of helping authors move forward to reach their publishing goals. She still does.

After over 10 years of acquiring, developing, and editing children’s books at both
Scholastic and Harcourt, working in educational, school and library, with trade, book clubs, book fairs and magazines, she began consulting on projects for National Geographic, Santlana USA, Weekly Reader, Marshall Cavendish, etc…, and then created F1rst Pages (f1rstpages.com).

Through F1rst Pages she critiques manuscripts to help both published and unpublished authors strengthen their writing, learn how to view their work from a marketing perspective, and learn the part of the business that isn’t writing so they have a better chance of getting published. Eileen loves guiding newcomers through the writing process, helping them get their feet in the door and also works with many experienced
fiction and nonfiction authors.

In addition to F1rst Pages, she is also a part of a joint venture, Kid’s Book Revisions (kidsbookrevisions.com) giving workshops at national and regional conferences as well as smaller, more focused workshops tailored to the needs of the group, with a focus on revision.

Eileen loves the world of children’s publishing and believes reading is a right and a gift. She is always striving to inspire children’s authors, helping them connect with their readers.
